1. Executive Summary

1.1 Scope

The scope of the document on application reuse is to define a critical mass of already existing applications relevant for the MOSAIC architecture. The "Technical Note" of work package 1600 should provide the basis for the selection of applications and tools later on leading to the definitive MOSAIC "Architectural Document" of work package 1700. Therefore the main objective of the work was to find a reasonable number of available market tools and applications contributed by the partners which could then constitute the minimal basis of the MOSAIC architecture. This basis will, of course, be constantly extended and updated in the future as new developments and tools will have to be considered in the model.



2. Applied Methodology

The main goal of this phase is to gather as much information on existing applications and tools in the cultural heritage field as possible in order to define certain guidelines for establishing CSCs and give an idea of the commercial aspect of the MOSAIC network. Each partner contributed to the document on different areas of cultural heritage information technology. The Work package 1600 now presents the synthesis of the recommended technical products and prototypes.

The main results of the WP1600 Document are presented according to the chapter contents.
